I just got back from a dream holiday to Thailand, and another of our office girls Megan is set to jet off tomorrow... I'm still in that dreamy holiday period where I'm reminiscing over all the experiences I had so I thought I'd share a few musings here with you all :)
Anyone who's been knows that Thailand is hot and smelly, but it is also beautiful, and the people are super friendly. Fashion wise, it is uber casual. You can get around in a singlet, shorts and thongs most days, and the nights don't step up much from that! I had brought one pair of humble Havaianas, as well as a choice of three dressy sandals (Sien by KO, Sergio by Diavolina and Polini by Jolie), and some enclosed shoes (for the jungle trekking!) I packed suuuppperrr light in case I shopped up a storm, I wanted to avoid those excess baggage charges! So my very basic wardrobe consisted of a singlet, t-shirt, some shirts, a skirt and a dress (and I bought a local beer singlet whilst there):
These basics got me through most of Thailand! I ended up with an extra dress and a white linen shirt-style cover up too, basic colours that could mix through with what I already had... I visited the most amazing places.
From Phuket I went out on a day trip to gorgeous mini island Koh Kai as well as Phang Nga ("James Bond Island") and saw some gorgeous sea caves and natural cliffs etc. I also got to do a canoe trip through the jungle, and an elephant trek up to some stone mountains - all the foliage was so green and beautiful! In Koh Samui I did some shopping and visited a wildlife park (where I got to hold a gorgeous baby tiger and pat a bigger adolescent tiger - sooooooo amazing!). Then it was back to Phuket to get a speedboat to Phi Phi Island - a hidden gem. I stayed right at the top of the island on a fairly private beach that looked out to Maya Bay (where "The Beach" was filmed) and a few other gorgeous islands for some snorkeling and boating...
The amazing resorts I stayed in:
I'm excited for the weather here to get as hot as it was there and for some more beach times... Ahhhhhhh Summer!
